2012 Cabernet Sauvignon
Diamond Mountain District,
Single Vineyard
Currently in barrel this wine will probably be a renaissance example for those who adore the kind of old school style cabernets from Chateau Monthelena, Caymus, Shafer Hillside Select, Dunn Howell Mountain and other iconic producers. 100% cabernet sauvignon, this wine remains pure and heavily layered with radiant fruit. Picture a Norman Rockwell painting of a Napa vineyard down a country lane. An extravagant harvest yielded peak brix points and great acidity without being overripe or cloying. Vinified 1/3rd in experimental new French oak barrels with staves from different French forests, it’s already showing foundational girth, a glowing intensity of red and dark purple bursting grape extraction. Beautifully dense and full bodied, showing what the best of what a cluster of cabernet can drip forth. A libation of crushed rocks mixed with great dark berries, black raspberries, plus tobacco notes and flowers. Sweet tannins, elegant and showing fabulous energy. Anticipated maturity is mid 2015.
